How Coaching Works
Coaching is an amazing opportunity to make changes happen in your life. Lisa Huybrechts, M.A. will become your 'success partner,' helping you to identify your goals, strengths, areas of improvement, creative solutions, and the most effective strategies to make it all happen.
Coaching happens in phases. First, Coach Lisa will take some time to get to know you. Together, you will spend some time exploring your hopes and dreams for yourself. The clarity that you achieve about your goals will serve as the blueprint for the rest of your work together. You and your coach will also identify the strengths and resources that you already have, as well as your areas for improvement. When this comprehensive assessment has been undertaken you and your coach will be ready to start the next phase.
Since you are considered to be the foremost authority on you, Lisa will help you to find your personal solutions. She will also have loads of ideas about things that have been helpful to others that may also work for you. Brainstorming sessions, ‘unlocking’ exercises, and novel, creative ideas will all be used to help you generate strategies for manifesting the changes you’d like to create in your life.
As you decide to implement your strategies via coaching homework assignments or ‘life experiments’ the true power of coaching is then brought into force: The relationship that you have with your coach. As your accountability partner, you coach will expect you to follow through on the commitments you have made. While Lisa is always supportive of you, she will also support the expectations that you have of yourself. At the same time, she is flexible and can help you to analyze your results as you go -- adjusting the strategy when necessary. Lisa will celebrate your successes with you -- as you use your strength and drive to create the life you want.
Coaching at Growing Self is exclusively phone-based. It starts with a more intensive period where you and Lisa will talk for an hour, once a week for a few weeks. You’ll have homework assignments and exercises to help you get started. As you and your coach get to know each other better and have clarity about objectives, you may speak for a half hour once a week to check in about experiments and implementation of strategies. As your changes start to happen, you may check in with your coach on a schedule that you determine in order to fine-hone your strategy and stay on track.
